The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance for the medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy allegedly abused by his guardian in Isiowulu, demonstrating its commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring justice for victims of abuse.
The Command disclosed that operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, were moved by the severity of the child’s injuries and immediately offered cash support to facilitate his urgent medical care and recovery.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the intervention reflects the Command’s resolve to ensure that victims of abuse receive the care and protection they deserve while efforts continue to bring perpetrators to justice.
He stated that the Police have intensified investigations into the incident and assured that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to collaborating with relevant government agencies, child protection organisations and community stakeholders to strengthen child protection across Anambra State.
He stressed that the Police would continue to enforce laws against child abuse, neglect, exploitation and all forms of violence against children, while promoting justice, compassion and respect for human rights in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Command urged members of the public to promptly report cases of child abuse and other forms of domestic violence to the nearest police station, assuring residents of its unwavering commitment to protecting the rights, safety and welfare of every child in the state.
