Muslim pilgrims from Delta State currently participating in the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia have offered special prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as part of activities marking the Day of Arafat.
The prayers were held during the observance of Arafat Day, regarded as one of the holiest days in Islam and the spiritual peak of the Hajj pilgrimage at Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia.
Leading the Delta contingent shortly after the prayer session, Chairman of the Delta State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Auwalu Tukur, congratulated President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori on their victories in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
Tukur urged Nigerians to intensify support for President Tinubu’s administration, particularly in efforts aimed at combating insecurity across the country.
He also warned individuals promoting religious extremism to desist, stressing that such actions were contrary to the teachings and principles of Islam.
The pilgrims’ board chairman further commended Governor Oborevwori for fostering religious harmony and inclusiveness in Delta State, noting that the governor had demonstrated support for people irrespective of ethnic or religious backgrounds.
According to him, the current administration in Delta State had exceeded the expectations of many residents through its infrastructural and human capital development initiatives.
He maintained that giving Governor Oborevwori another mandate in 2027 would enable him to consolidate on developmental projects and continue policies geared towards improving the wellbeing of residents.
Tukur also called on Deltans to remain united in the interest of peace, progress and accelerated development of the state.
He assured that Muslims and non-indigenes residing in Delta State would continue to contribute positively to the state’s growth and sustain efforts toward promoting peace and stability.
“We thank His Excellency for always supporting the Muslim community in Delta State, especially during this Eid-el-Kabir celebration where he provided rams for Muslim communities across the state,” Tukur said.
“Our Governor is a great man. He is detribalised and supportive of everyone irrespective of background. We sincerely appreciate him and will continue to pray that Almighty God grants him long life, prosperity and protection.”
On the 2027 general elections, Tukur urged Deltans to vote massively for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and other candidates of the party at both state and national levels.
