The State Working Committee, SWC of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Delta chapter, has reaffirmed the earlier Vote of No Confidence passed on the chairman the Union, Comrade Churchill Oyowe.
It would be recalled that the Nigeria Union of Journalists Warri Correspondent’s Chapel had in an emergency congress passed a vote of no confidence on Churchill Oyowe over an alleged bridge of the union’s constitution and abuse of office.
The SWC, in letter sent to the Chairman and Secretary Warri Correspondent’s Chapel Credentials Committee disclosed that their actions was in strict compliance with the National Secretariat.
According to the letter that was E-signed by 5 members state as below.

RE: WARRI CORRESPONDENTS’ CHAPEL ELECTION
Acting in strict compliance with the directive of the National Secretariat as conveyed in its letter dated March 12, 2026, the State Working Committee (SWC) met on March 14, 2026, to review the eligibility and qualifications of the three aspirants contesting for the position of Chairman. Following thorough deliberations, the SWC cleared all three contestants to participate in the election scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026.
It is important to state that no petitions concerning the chairmanship aspirants were entertained during the meeting, as relevant issues, particularly those relating to membership of the Chapel, had already been conclusively addressed by the National Secretariat. In line with this directive and the subsequent clearance granted by the SWC, all 32 members of the Warri Correspondents’ Chapel are duly eligible to vote in the election.
We, the undersigned members of the SWC, hereby disown and dissociate ourselves from any contrary correspondence purportedly issued in respect of this election and signed solely by the State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, as such communication does not reflect the collective decision or position of the SWC.
Furthermore, we hereby pass a vote of no confidence in the State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, over his persistent disregard for the authority and resolutions of the SWC, as well as actions considered high-handed and constituting an abuse of office.
We reaffirm our alignment with the directive of the National Secretariat regarding the conduct of the election on Monday, March 16, 2026.
All members are urged to conduct themselves in a peaceful, orderly and professional manner throughout the election.
