The Delta State CP-SAT team based in Ughelli led by ASP Julius Robinson, have arrested number of persons suspected to be cultists in connection with the recent cult killings in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered the security operatives in an intelligence operation tracked the suspects to a hotel in Ekiugbo Community.
According to a source, “Delta State security operatives reportedly arrested the Vikings (DNKI) number 1 man and his Vikings squad in the area. (Spydolina Platoon).
“The security operatives received an Intel that the number one man of the confraternity identified as Joshua lodged in a hotel in the community enjoying himself after returning to Ughelli
“Immediately the police mobilized and stormed the area and on getting there the suspect surrounded by his members was arrested alongside others
One of the suspected cultists, Raphael Napoleon who accosted the police during the process of the arrest was allegedly shot on the leg.
“After the alleged shooting, youths from the community barricade the road in other to prevent the police from taking the arrested suspects away.”
“The raid and arrests are connected to the killing of the younger brother of the Ughelli king, Prince Idjesa Oharisi and others who were murdered in January 2026, during the Vikings vs Eiye cult clash in Ughelli.
“The operation that led to the arrest of the suspected cultists in the area was carried out last Friday
“The cult leader and his squad are now reportedly in police custody, while the second-in-command who was expected to take over from him is currently on the run and nowhere to be found.”
It would be recalled that following the death of Prince Idjesa Oharisi and other person, the chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Jaro Egbo vowed to go after suspected cultists in the local government.
Olorogun Jaro Egbo disclosed that he has the dossiers of the killers hiding behind cultism and he will not negotiate with mindless killers
He said, “For those killers hiding behind cultism in Ughelli, we have your dossiers and your leaders will pay heavy price.
“You will be hunted down and face the full weight of the law, ‘No negotiation, No surrender’ for mindless killing” he stated.
Confirming the arrest, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright said, “I have a sitrep that some suspected cultists were arrested and they are in custody.”
On the shooting, he said, Nobody was shot but if the community insist, they should go and report at the police station.”
