Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State and  Akinuwa of Agbor Kingdom, Chief (Dr) Cairo Ojougboh, is dead.

Ojougboh gave up the ghost watching Nigeria Super Eagles match against South Africa at the 2023 AFCON.

According to sources Cairo Ojougbo died when penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory coast.

Super Eagles Captain, William Troost-Ekong had scored a penalty at the 67th minute for Nigeria, before the Nelson Mandela’s kinsmen were awarded a spot-kick.

Their equaliser came after Nigeria thought they had scored a second goal through a tap-in from 2023 African best player, Victor Osimhen.

The play was called back after VAR alerted the Egyptian referee that South African Percy Tau, was fouled in the 18-yard box of Nigeria, leading to the abortion of Osimhen’s goal.

Although there is no clear detail on his death, but rumours revealed that Ojougboh died as soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria in favour of South Africa.

The game, however, ended with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory in favour of Nigeria, sending the Super Eagles to the final of the tournament.

Cairo Ojougboh was an All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Director General of the Coalition For Peace and Unity, and former member of the Federal House of Representatives, having represented Ika Federal Constituency.

May his soul rest in peace.
