Political Division Rocks Ughelli North APC As Egbo Removes, Replaces Health Supervisory Councillor

…APC chieftain condemns removal, alleges political vendetta
Political division is brewing in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State following the reported removal of the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Eyamu Akpotu, by the council chairman, Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo.
Akpotu was reportedly replaced on Tuesday during the council’s executive meeting, in a move that has drawn criticism from an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who condemned the action and questioned the circumstances surrounding the decision.
Sources disclosed that Akpotu was present at the meeting and participated in the opening proceedings, including the devotion and remarks by the council chairman.
However, the sources alleged that shortly after the opening remarks, Egbo excused the health supervisory councillor from the meeting and subsequently replaced him.
The development reportedly occurred without an official statement from the council leadership explaining the reasons for Akpotu’s removal.
Sources further alleged that the decision might be connected to Akpotu’s closeness to the immediate past council chairman, Chief Godwin Adode, and his loyalty to the Ughelli North APC chairman, Olorogun Lucky Ofomukoro.
The allegations have fuelled concerns over the possible influence of political affiliations on decisions within the local government administration.
An APC chieftain, who condemned the reported removal, faulted the council chairman’s action, raising questions about the circumstances that led to the decision.
The chieftain’s intervention has added a political dimension to the development, particularly amid existing alignments among party leaders and stakeholders in Ughelli North.
However, the specific reasons for Akpotu’s reported removal have not been officially established, and the allegations linking the decision to his political relationships remain unconfirmed.
Efforts to obtain the council chairman’s position through his media aide, Mr Efe Ekete, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached for comments.
As of the time of filing this report, the council had not issued an official statement clarifying the status of Akpotu’s appointment or explaining the circumstances surrounding his reported replacement.
It was learned that the Council Chairman had instructed all his media team not to post the removal of Super Health on social media.
