Dignitaries Bid Farewell as Dewayles Group Chairman Buries Elder Sister In Delta

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dewayles Group of Companies, High Chief (Dr.) Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore, JP, FCILG, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, bade a final farewell to his beloved eldest sister, Late Madam Patience Igho Egukawhore, amid an outpouring of love, tributes and support from prominent personalities across Nigeria.

The burial ceremony, which attracted an array of political leaders, captains of industry, traditional rulers, clergy and community leaders, witnessed the presence of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, alongside several top government functionaries.

Also in attendance was the Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, as well as representatives of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other senior government officials from Delta and Bayelsa States.


Among the dignitaries present were the Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Frederick Agbedi; members of the National and State Assemblies from Delta and Bayelsa States, commissioners, local government chairmen and leaders of various political parties across the South-South region.

The ceremony also drew notable business moguls and captains of industry, including Chief Kestin Pondi of Tantita Security Services Limited, Engr. Peter Ikenga of Transcorp Power Plc, Evang. Chief Johnbull Ejovi of Ejovi Offshore Limited, and several other prominent entrepreneurs and corporate leaders from across the country.

Traditional rulers, clergymen, members of the Isoko Development Union, the Ijaw National Congress, presidents-general of various communities, and old boys of James Welch Grammar School, Emevor, were equally on hand to honour the memory of the deceased, fondly known as “Big Mama.”

Emotions ran high throughout the ceremony as family members, friends and well-wishers paid glowing tributes to Madam Patience Igho Egukawhore, describing her as a woman of exceptional kindness, compassion and service to humanity whose legacy would continue to inspire generations.
Speaking during the event, High Chief Dr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore, the Okobaro of Okpolo (Enhwe) Kingdom, expressed profound appreciation to all those who identified with him and his family during the period of mourning and the final interment of his beloved sister.

He thanked the dignitaries, associates, friends and well-wishers for their overwhelming show of love and support, stressing that despite the pain of losing a loved one, the family remained grateful to God Almighty for a life well lived.
