The Ewu-Urhobo Youth Association has intensified its voter sensitization campaign ahead of future elections in Ughelli South Local Government Area, urging eligible voters across the Ewu axis to actively participate in the electoral process and support candidates who are committed to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people.
The resolution was reached during an enlarged meeting of the association attended by members and community stakeholders in Ewu. Speaking at the meeting, the President of the association, Comrade Emmanuel Erhiegueke, said the time had come for the people of Ewu to unite and speak with one voice by supporting leaders who are willing to engage with the concerns of Ewu youths and deliver meaningful development to the area.
Also speaking, the Assistant Secretary of the association, Engr. Joseph Obukadeta, emphasised the need for continuous voter education and mobilisation. He urged all eligible voters, particularly young people, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), reject vote-buying, shun electoral violence, and participate peacefully in future elections.
The association noted that the Ewu axis has a strong voting population capable of influencing election outcomes when united. Members agreed to sustain community engagement and encourage political aspirants seeking elective offices to present practical programmes that address youth empowerment, infrastructure, education, security, and economic development.
The Ewu-Urhobo Youth Association maintained that its sensitization campaign is non-partisan and aimed solely at promoting responsible civic participation and strengthening democratic values. It also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, women, and youths to work together in ensuring peaceful and credible elections.
The enlarged meeting ended with a renewed commitment by members to continue sensitising residents on the importance of voting wisely and supporting credible candidates who will listen to the voice of the Ewu-Urhobo Youth Association and work for the overall development of Ewu and Ughelli South Local Government Area.
