EDUCATIONAL materials worth thousands of naira belonging to Oharisi Basic secondary school, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, have been destroyed and result booklets were carted away by suspected hoodlums that invaded the institution.
It was reliably learned that the hoodlums destroyed part of the perimeter fence of the school before gaining entrance into some classrooms.
According to sources,”The hoodlums entered the premise after pulling down part of the fence that demarcated the school and Ovwodoawanre primary school.
“On entering the school, they broke into classrooms and destroyed all the marker boards in the entire Jss 1A to D building and the staff room in same building.
“They went and destroyed Jss 2, too and they stole sanitary items like soaps, toiletries and other things and as that was not enough for them entered SS1 and destroyed the plywood boards.
“Our VP’s office entered and messed up, they also went to the only Lab the school is managing, destroyed some items, they stole result booklets and destroyed the ones they couldn’t go with.”
In a related development, a yet to be identified students in the junior classes is currently battling to regain sight after the student was allegedly beaten by fellow student that pulled out the eye socket in the school.
Another source disclosed that “the students in Jss 2 had an internal issues and fight broke among them and the eyeball of one of them was pulled out.
“I could not get to the scene because of the gory state of the eye and student, the student was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.”
Efforts to speak with the principal, Mr Freeborn Ogra was not successful as calls to his known line did not connect as at the time of this report.
It would be recalled that, the principal and school management suspended a student that was allegedly caught practicing gay indefinitely from the school in 2025.
