Winner Of Delta CP Cup, Olomu Kingdom Team To Represent Nigeria At Youth Championship In Abidjan

 

WINNER of the just concluded maiden edition of the Abaniwonda Olufemi Peace Cup tournament, Olomu Kingdom team has been invited to represent Nigeria at the World Youth Championship tournament in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

 

The invitation to the tournament was handed to representatives of the ancient Olomu kingdom by the Ughelli Area Commander, ACP Ademola Adebayo amidst applause by the recipients.

 

 

The Ughelli Area Commander, ACP Ademola Adebayo recently organized CP Abaniwonda Olufemi football tournament, tagged ‘Peace Cup’ to foster unity between the police and the public in the 14 kingdoms under the Area command.

Speaking while presenting the invitation, ACP Ademola Adebayo said, “What we started has gone beyond what we thought and today the winner of the tournament are going to a neighbouring African country to represent Nigeria.

 

“Make the organizers of the Delta CP Cup football tournament, your kingdom proud, prove yourselves there, bring the Cup back to Nigeria and above all, make the Police proud.”

 

According to the letter, “Permit us please to introduce Tournoi International du District Autonome Abidjan (TIDA), one of Africa’s flagship youth soccer tournaments which is organized by Ivoire Sports Promotion in the Ivory Coast.

 

“The 2025 edition of the tournament will hold in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire in the last week of November to the first week of December, the actual date of the event shall be announced soon.

 

“Titan Sports Nigeria request that your team, Olomu Kingdom FC of Ughelli South, Delta State, Nigeria, as winners of the just concluded CP OLUFEMI ABANIWONDA Football Championship, represent Nigeria in the TIDA 2025.

 

“This has been communicated to the tournament organizers verbally by Serahana Sports International; the organizers of the Africa Youth Cup. However, there is a need for an official letter from you addressed to the organizers of TIDA through Serahana Sports International confirming your interest in participating in TIDA 2025.

 

“Rest assured that you and your team are about to embark on an unforgettable experience in sports tourism and football business encounter.”

 

Reacting to the invitation, the representative of the Olomu Kingdom Team, Chief Sunday Ubogu said, “It’s a great thing that we won the local tournament here, organized by our Area Commander.

 

And it is on that basis of, we had the opportunity of going for a competition in Cote d’Ivoire, to represent Nigeria

 

 

“We are indeed very grateful, the Olomu kingdom, the Royal Majesty, the President General, we are very happy that at least Olomu will be representing the country later this year.

 

“We are prepared, we will ensure that we go to the tournament with as it will be an opportunity for them the boy to go for a greener pasture and the best can join international team.

 

 

“We advise them to play their best to ensure that they come out in a flying colours because everything in life is determination without which one cannot be successful.”
