UPM Lauds President Tinubu For Honoring Ibru, Kokori

A Social political pressure group, Urhobo Progressive Movement, UPM, had lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for honoring two prominent Urhobo sons, late Dr Alex Ibru and Chief Frank Kokori for their enormous contributions to the growth of a better Nigeria.

 

 

The group in a statement by its Coordinator, Comr. Wilson Okorugbo described the honour of GCON on late Dr. Alex Ibru and CON on Chief Frank Kokori as well deserving owning to their commitment and contributions to the democracy Nigerians are currently enjoying.

 

According to Okorugbo, “I want commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for honoring these Urhobo sons that stake their lives for democracy to strive in Nigeria.

 

“This recognition is a proud moment for Urhobo nation and the celebration of the legacies of both icons indicates that our sons have made impact in the advent of the existing democracy in Nigeria..

 

 

“It is not surprising that the late icons risked their lives for Nigeria to survive, Frank Kokori was incarcerated during the military era and Ibru escaped being assassinated in the course of fight for a better Nigeria in their different ways.

 

“By honouring both with the prestigious GCON and CON respectively, the president has reminded us that the labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain.”

 

“While I congratulate them and their families, the Urhobos should close ranks, put aside differences and unite for the collective progress of the region.

 

“This is a call to unity, Urhobo leaders must close ranks and work together to promote our people’s interest just as UPM commitment to advancing Urhobo unity and national relevance”. Okorugbo stated.
