Anambra State Police command, Tuesday, warned philanthropists against distribution of rice and other Christmas largesse without security approval and presence for protection.
The command, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga also unveiled different phone numbers from high ranking officers within the various existing Area commands and urged corporate and private institutions wishing to embark on Christmas charity to contact them accordingly.

According to Ikenga, “The notice was aimed at ensuring orderliness, public safety, and preventing any untoward incidents during such activities.
“The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, hereby requests the general public especially individuals, groups, political organizations, religious bodies and non-governmental organizations intending to distribute palliatives during the Yuletide season to notify relevant security agencies in advance.
“This measure is aimed at facilitating adequate security deployment, ensuring orderliness, public safety, and preventing any untoward incidents during such activities. The Command, therefore, seeks the cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, safe, and secure Yuletide celebration across Anambra State.
“For ease of protocol, kindly find attached, the phone numbers of the respective Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers for necessary assistance, please,” he added.
