One Arrested For Allege Stealing Cement At Ughelli Health Center
A yet to be unidentified suspect has been arrested by the Nigeria Police attached to Ughelli Area Command in connection with the alleged stealing of over 400 bags cement at the ongoing construction site of the Ughelli North health center.
Though the report is sketchy, it was learned that the suspect who a casual worker attached to one of the Engineers at the ongoing construction site was apprended after being monitored.
According to source at the site
“After noticing that cements meant for the building project were running short, a monitoring team was discretely set up by the chairman of the council which yielded positive results that led to the arrest of the suspect whose Identity is yet to be known.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed the buyer of the cements who is a said to be a Chief but now at large.
An official of the Ughelli North Local Government Council who confirmed the incident on anonymous condition disclosed that the suspect is currently being held at the Ughelli Area Command awaiting further investigation.
A staff attached to the Works Department in Ughelli North said, “I am not among those supervising the project and I don’t want to be dragged into it, besides no official statement has come from the Council Chairman.
The Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo at the assumption of office, embarked on building a befitting health center to be equipped with modern facilities for pregnant women and infants to enjoy good health services.
The project is 70 percent completed as it is at the plastering stage after it has been roofed.
As at the time of this report, the arrested suspect is being held at the at the Ughelli Area Command while manhunt for the alleged buyer is ongoing for further investigation.
