The five surviving victims of an accident involving a Police Officer in Ughelli last Sunday are in critical condition and have been transferred from Central Hospital Ughelli and a private hospital in Warri to the Delta State Teaching Hospital Oghara.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Edet E. Emmanuel had in an accident allegedly killed, Mr Godstime Awiokpe, his son, Ephraim Avwiokpe while others Enoch, Oghenemine, Ebenezer Sandra, and Mrs Philomena Umolo were terribly wounded.
The deceased father, Mr Godstime a teacher in one of the schools Bomadi local government area of the state and his children, Sandra, Ebenezer, Oghenemine, Enoch Ephraim and Mrs Umolo were in a tricycle heading to First Baptist Church, when the accident occurred before Ughelli public field in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.

Mr Godstime Ovwokpie at about 45 years, and his son 2-year died while his four other children are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Warri.
Speaking at her hospital bed, Mrs Philomena Umolo with a broken leg said, “We were going church at about 7:am when the Spider driven by an officer left his lane to our lane to hit us and we all fell down.
“I was sitting at the front of the tricycle with their father while the other children about five of them were sitting at the back and from the way we saw him driving, we left the road and enter ground but he still to hit us.” she said.
The daughter, Sandra Avwiokpe who broke her leg disclosed that when she saw the vehicle coming, she begin to call on Jesus only to find herself at the Central Hospital.”
A family source who spoke on anonymous condition said, “The first son case is critical, we were told the accident affected his brain and he need a brain surgery as we speak.”
He successfully had had the brain surgery and he is currently on Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Warrie, while Sandra that was in Central Hospital, Ughelli was referred to Oghara.

“The situation of Mrs Philomena Umolo, Enoch and Ebenezer are critical as we speak.
“And the police officer, ASP Edet Emmanuel involved in the accident is going about his official duty without any sign of remorse.” the source revealed.
