Breaking: Renowned Urhobo Musician, Ekpekuro Kidnapped

Renowned Urhobo gospel musician and Evangelist, Jerry  Omamesiri Ekpekuro, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen in Delta State.

Evangelist Ekpekuro, widely known for his distinctive Urhobo gospel artistry, was abducted on Monday.

As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, with no confirmation yet on whether the kidnappers have established contact with his family.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Delta State Police Command were unsuccessful.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments.

This latest abduction marks a troubling re-occurrence for the renowned gospel singer.

In December 2020, Ekpekuro was kidnapped along the Osubi-Eku road in Okpe Local Government Area while reportedly on his way to his farm.

At the time, the armed men were said to have laid an ambush and forcefully taken him to an unknown location.

During the 2020 incident, the abductors allegedly demanded a ransom of N50 million, which was later negotiated down to N15 million before his release.

Jerry Ekpekuro hails from Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

His music and evangelism have earned him a significant following across the Niger Delta and beyond.

The renewed abduction has heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of Delta State, particularly the repeated targeting of prominent individuals.

Residents and fans have taken to social media to call for urgent action by security agencies to ensure Ekpekuro’s safe and swift release.
