APC Ughelli North Holds Stakeholders Pass Vote Of Confidence On Acting Leadership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State under the stewardship of the Acting Chairman, Comrade Evwighono Onofeghare Samuel has reaffirmed its commitment to an all-inclusive leadership.

Evwighono gave the assurance earlier today Saturday 11th October, 2025 during an enlarged stakeholders meeting of the party held at the Ughelli North APC Secretariat along Ughelli–Patani Road, Ughelli.

The meeting brought together leaders, elders, and party members from across the eleven (11) wards of Ughelli North to deliberate on the way forward for the party.

In his opening remark, the acting chairman described the gathering as “a new dawn for the APC in Ughelli North,” lamenting the inactivity that had trailed the chapter’s leadership for over two years.

“For over two years, our party structure in Ughelli North has been dormant. Meetings were not held, and the leadership was run like a personal enterprise. Even amid the recent massive defections of the Governor and the entire PDP Structure in the state to the APC across the state, there was no effort to convene a unity meeting to integrate the new members,” Evwighono said.

He explained that the local government executives and wards chairmen had to pass a vote of no confidence on the suspended chairman due to prolonged inaction and lack of inclusiveness.

Evwighono assured party faithful that the new leadership will operate with openness and transparency, stressing that there is no longer dichotomy of the “old” and “new” APC in the local government.

“The era of factional politics in Ughelli North is over. The APC in Ughelli North is one united family. Under my watch, every organ of the party will be consulted and carried along in decision-making,” he stated.

Party leaders, Elders and stakeholders who spoke at the meeting commended the decisive step taken by the new leadership to revive party activities in the area. They also pledged their support to ensure unity and collective progress as the party prepares for future elections.

Major highlight of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence passed on the acting chairman and his executive team. The motion was moved by Hon. (Barr.) Akpodiete Edoja Rufus, Ph.D., and seconded by Olorogun Monday Otobrise, which was uniamously adopted.

The epoch meeting had in attendance notable APC leaders and top government functionaries such as Olorogun Jaro Egbo (Ksc), Executive Chairman, Ughelli North; Hon. (Barr.) Obokpare Spencer Ohwofa, Member representing Ughelli North II Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly; Hon.
