Gunmen Assassinates PDP Chairman In Delta

Unknown gunmen suspected to be assassins have shot dead the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Olomu ward One in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased, Mr. Paul Onomuakpokpo was killed while in his way from where he had gone to celebrate the Supreme Court victory of governor Ifeanyi Okowa over Chief Great Ogboru. It was gathered.

According to sources, Onomuakpokpo was killed on Wednesday 8 Janauary, 2019 along Ogoni-Olomu road.

A source who claimed to be with the deceased said; “We were together at the premises of one of the SA’S to the Delta State Governor on Youth Development celebrating the victory of the governor at the Supreme Court today.

“The late Paul Onomuakpokpo was also the Tipper Unit chairman of the NURTW in Olomu told us he was going to collect money from his colleagues, but within few minutes, we heard this horrible news that he has been murdered”.

The source could not control her emotion as while she was disclosing the sad news to our correspondent over the phone.

When our correspondent got to the scene a team of policemen attached to Otu-Jeremi Division were seen conveying the corpse of the deceased to the morgue.

As at the time of filing in this report, tension was still high in Olomu and environs as sympathizers were alleging that it was a clear case of assassination.

Though the Delta State Police Public Relation Officer PPRO, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya could not be reached to confirm if it was a case of robbery or assassination.
