Abuja Court Restrains Security Agents From Arresting Kenneth Gbagi

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restricted the Nigeria Inspector General of Police, Delta State Commissioner of Police and other security outfits from arresting the embattled Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, a governorship hopeful in Delta.

 

Gbagi is presently in the eyes of the storm. On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, the Delta state police command had issued a statement, calling for his arrest.

The police command said he has been evading arrest with different excuses, beginning with his sister’s burial which held on Friday last week. On Saturday, Gbagi had a press conference with journalists where he said if he is invited by the police he would honour the invitation.

Reports from the police in the state indicates that Gbagi has been invited several times but he failed to honour the invitation.

According to police statement and a report emerged in one of the national dailies,a federal high court in Abuja presided over by Justice Taiwo O Taiwo, had earlier on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, restrained the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Delta state, whether by themselves, their agents, employees, or by whatever name called, from threatening to arrest and detaining Gbagi pending the hearing and determination of his application for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights.
