Nation Building: OYP/CYN Set To Honor University VC In Kaduna

The Vice Chancellor, Crown University Int’l Chartered Inc (Ghana, America and partner campuses world wide), Professor Sir, Bashiru Aremu will next Month November 28th, 2019 be a Guest of Honor at National Youth Summit in Kaduna organized by
OOdua Youth Parliament (OYP) and Congress of Nigerian Youth (CNY) in Kaduna.

The University VC spoke to our Reporter today in a Telephone Chat while Commending the youths for such gestures of being set to honor him and some other political, Religious, ethnic and National Leaders in the Country Nigeria such as Former Governor of Osun State Engr Rahuf Aregbesola, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi the Ooni Of Ife, Aare ona kakanfo of Yoruba land Aare Gani Adams Emir Of Zauzau and other distinguished guests through out the federation .

He defined Nation building as the process of engaging all the citizens of a country in building social unison, political stability and economic prosperity in a comprehensive and democratic manner.

In the words of the VC who doubled as the World Grand President, International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS): “Nation Building is as a process when the citizens are involved in the development of the nation, and the youths of a country plays the most important role in nation towards national Development”.

“Nation building involves social harmony, infrastructure development and economic growth of the nation. The Participation of youths in growing economy as an essential key to national development. Youths are the greatest power of the country therefore significant efforts must be established to help empower them to competently and adequately contribute towards sustainable development of the nation. National development will improve the lives of citizens with the growing economy”.

“The role of Government in Nation Building is very Paramount. Government should empower youths by including them in the decision making process. The participation of young people in growing economy will instill the feeling of patriotism and encourage them to be responsible citizens of the nation. It will also increase their interest in the progress of their nation which will lead to national development. It is vital to build the future of our youth by providing them education and other means for development”.

Professor Sir Aremu therefore harps on the need for for the youths to be equipped with quality education so as to help them in building the right foundation for themselves, which then empower them to make independent choices and chase their dream employment opportunities thereby gives room to put their energy and skills into practice for their personal growth.

He added that the gesture will as well promote economic growth and development of the nation which will ultimately lead to the overall progress and development of nation, also most importantly include the youths to participate in decision making processes and show respect for Leaders to use their power for the good of young people, then urging the Government to formulate policies to encourage and engage young people in important activities of the nation.

Professor Sir Aremu noted that young people are full of ideas and have infinite source of energy to put their ideas into practice, that they have strong opinions and do not fear voicing them, knowing the up to date on current happenings and latest technology , that they are very well suited for various jobs, that today’s Youths are ready to take risks, face challenges and try hard to achieve their goals, with very strong believe in themselves and their abilities to turn their passion into profession which makes them more successful.

The World renowned Professor of ICT ouths want the admonished Nigerian Leaders to empower, prepare the Youths towards nation building for national development and be a better place to constructively criticize the system to bring changes towards making the society a better place.

According to the University VC, the mentorship atmosphere from the Leaders or every Adult Nigerian will make them strong enough to fight for their own rights and for the rights of others as well by eliminating fear so as to support the right and raise voice against the wrong doings in the Society, given room for them to fight against social evils – be it corruption, inequality or terrorism.

He added that ethnic or Nigerian Youths should use the social media and other platforms to raise voice against issues such as gender inequality, sexual harassment, religious issues, and not blindly accepting notions that are unfair or inhuman.

Professor Sir Bashiru then enjoined the Oodua and Nigerian Youths in general as a matter of clarion call be open to experimentation so as to succeed and shine not only in some other fields nationally and internationally such as in dance, music, photography, blogging, modeling, acting, writing and so on, that they should be as well be smart, witty, intelligent, forward-looking and socially active beings who can bring a huge change by being passionate about what they do, which is important for progress.

The VC opined that today’s youths are rocking on social media as influencers in fashion, photography and so on, which ought not to be, encourage then to have a better mind set towards bringing positive changes in the society.

He added that they should make sure that they are seen and heard, by been full of spark and courage to explore everything as well as know what they are capable of and how to use their potential in the right direction.

He finally admonished both ethnic and Nigerian Youths to be Change agents in a dynamic World, changing times for nation’s progress, that they should get the/ motivation and support they needed to live up to their full potentials and energy.
