Man, 54, killed by Suspected Fulani  Herdsmen in Delta

A 54-year old man simply identified as Anthony Aria Ejabare has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in Edjekota-Ogor community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
 Ejabare, it was gathered was abducted pipeline surveillance guard be for he met his untimely death in the hand of his killers.
According to source, the deceased was allegedly shot dead by his assailants when he refused them the attempt to rape his wife who was coming from farm last Saturday.
The source alleged that, the deceased’s wife was attacked by the herdsmen who asked her to undress for them to sleep with her and in that process, her husband who was coming from work saw them.
“The Fulani herdsmen on sghting him, shot at him and he died instantly.
“The corpse of the deceased was taken to the palace of the Ovie of Ogor kingdom by family members and was resisted by some chiefs and palace guards which led to protest in the community.
The arrival of police officers from Ughelli Area Command douse all tension and the corpse was later taken to Ughelli Area Command where the case was incidents.
A security source at the Area Command who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “From the statement given by wife of the victim who is the witness, she was accosted by an armed Fulani herdsman who asked her to put down the cassava stem she carried on her head in an attempt to rape her else he was going to shoot her.
“While she was pleading with the gunmen, her husband on his way home who was stationed as a guard in a pipeline close to her farm, walked into them and upon sighting the husband, the assailant immediately shot sporadically on her husband and fled into the bush.” The security source said.
