Bet9ja Royal Cup: Ediri Fires Golden Albion to Victory

Ediri Godstime became the fourth player to score a hattrick in the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup when Golden Albion beats De Blessed FC 5 – 2.

This feat was one major action of Matchday Two fixtures on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the DSC Mobile Camp field at Orhuwhorun-Udu.

Ediri banged a double in quick succession in the 15th and 19th minutes respectively to put Albion firmly ahead earlier on in the tie, before he fired his third goal in the 65th minutes to stretch the advantage beyond the reach of their opponents.

With this victory, Golden Albion have qualified for the group stage of the competition.

Elsewhere, Young Shall Grow FC have qualified for the group phase after beating Iyowo FC 0 – 2 in the final Playoff tie at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-uku.

Maro11 Speedstar Academy are also through to the group stage after they won 5 – 4 on penalties against Amazing Grace to secure Ughelli North spot in the group phase.

They had played an entertaining 1 – 1 draw during normal time.

As at press time, Ihun-Iyase FC and Partakers FC of Agbor, Osevan FC of Kwale, Sundof Academy of Oleh, Shining Stars of Oleh, Delta Eagles of Ozoro, Jeremi United of Otu-Jeremi, Ekete United of Udu, Mega Stars of Asaba, 90 FC of Asaba, Henfield Academy of Umutu, Bobbies FC of Warrior, Delta Warriors FC of Otokutu, amongst others have advanced to the group stage.
