Benin Republic withdraws Globacom’s licence

Benin’s telecommunications regulator has withdrawn the operating licence of Nigerian mobile telecoms company Globacom’s local unit in a dispute over new terms, according to a document seen on Tuesday. The regulator, ARCEP-Benin, said that it took the decision after negotiations with Glo Mobile Benin to renew its licence broke down earlier this month after the company refused new conditions imposed by the government. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 3,870 goods worth N11.2 billion Duty Paid Value (DPV) from January to November as against 5,602 goods worth N10.2 billion DPV seized same period in 2016. A young Palestinian woman was arrested early Tuesday morning, a day after a video of her punching, slapping and kicking two Israeli soldiers in a West Bank village went viral.
