Senate takes fight against drug abuse to Kano

In keeping to its resolution to fight the abuse of drugs and other substances by Nigerian youth, the Senate is to hold a roundtable to discuss ways to fight the menace. Former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, a 2002 World Cup winner with Brazil, has retired. The 35-year-old, who began his career in Brazil with Sao Paulo, was most recently with MLS club Orlando City. Boko Haram: NEC’s $1b approval in order – Mansur Dan-Ali

Defence Minister Mansur Dan-Ali has said the one billion dollars approved by the National Executive Council (NEC) for the war against Boko Haram was needed to finally terminate the sect. Dan-Ali stated this on Saturday at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi in Lagos, after the retirement/graduation of 403 soldiers who underwent skills acquisition trainings. UN votes on U.S.’ recognition of Jerusalem status

The United Nations Security Council will today vote on a draft resolution that the recognition of Jerusalem as Capital of Israel has no legal effect. The resolution if passed will insist the the recognition of Jerusalem by U.S. President Donald Trump be rescinded. The one-page Egyptian-drafted text, which was circulated to the 15-member council on Saturday, does not specifically mention the United States or Trump.
