Etisalat Nigeria rebrands to 9Mobile

Etisalat Nigeria is changing its brand name to 9Mobile, it was gathered yesterday. The Chief Executive, Etisalat International, Hatem Dowidar, had announced a programme of phase out of the brand in the country after the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) failed to settle the fracas that attended the inability of Etisalat to continue payment of the $1.2billion facility drawn from 13 local lenders failed. EFCC arraigns 3 INEC staff over N138m bribe

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arraigned the administrative secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State, Tarkumbur G Gregory, and two retired staff of the electoral body, Yunusa Ali Biri, and Bunu Mulima, for allegedly receiving bribe. Air Zimbabwe lays off half its workforce amid financial woes

Zimbabwe’s state-owned airline has laid off 200 workers, roughly half of its staff, with immediate effect. The job losses are part of a turn-around strategy to bring struggling Air Zimbabwe back to profitability from a $300m (£230m) debt. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was rushed to hospital on Thursday after becoming dehydrated at a charity house-building project in Canada.
